Canadians urged to be on lookout for wanted triple murder suspects
Kam McLeod and Bryer Schmegelsky were initially considered missing persons after their burning truck was discovered.
Canadians have been urged to be on the lookout for two missing teenagers who have been named as suspects in a triple murder.
Kam McLeod, 19, and Bryer Schmegelsky, 18, are wanted over the deaths Chynna Deese and Lucas Fowler, as well as a man in his 50s or 60s who police are yet to identify.
US national Ms Deese, 19, and her Australian boyfriend Mr Fowler, 23, were found shot dead along the Alaska Highway last week, 12 miles (20km) from tourist hotspot Liard River Hot Springs in northern British Columbia.
McLeod and Schmegelsky were initially considered missing persons after their burning truck was discovered near the town of Dease Lake, around 311 miles (500km) south on the same road, but police later warned the public that the pair were considered dangerous and should not be approached.
Officers will conduct door-to-door searches in two communities in Manitoba province over the next three days, with one line of inquiry being that McLeod and Schmegelsky could have had assistance in leaving the area.
The pair are known to have already left British Columbia and earlier this week were said to have been travelling in the north of Saskatchewan, which is just west of Manitoba, in a grey 2011 Toyota Rav 4.
Royal Canadian Mounted Police Corporal Julie Courchaine said
investigators were "open to the possibility" that they had ended up in
Manitoba and had help from someone in the Gillam and Fox Lake area.
She said the men, who are both from Port Alberni, British Columbia, may have altered their appearance and had someone inadvertently lend them aid.
No cars have been reported stolen from the area, which is more than 2,000 miles away from where the three people were found dead.
Police have since released CCTV images of Deese and Fowler at a petrol station, but are still seeking help to identify the other man.
McLeod and Schmegelsky had not been in contact with their families for a few days at the time of the deaths, having been travelling to Whitehorse in the Yukon to look for work.
